Forest Hill Church resides in the Forest Hill section of the city of Absanie. The close-knit community is home to over 300 residents. Forest Hill Church serves 40% of those residents as well as residents from the cities of Absanie, Dorinda, Gineo, Hardaway, and Fountain Valley. Forest Hill began in 1987. One of the founding residents of the community, Micah Goldman felt a need for a Pentecostal church to service the area. Many people who were moving to the community were of the Pentecostal faith. Mr. Goldman's prayers were answered when a preacher by the name of Eld. Paul Hagleford moved into the community. Mr. Goldman talked to Eld. Hagleford about starting the church. Although reluctant about the endeavor, Eld. Hagleford agreed to pray about it. Eld. Hagleford talked to his current pastor, Eld. J. Berry Adkins, about starting the church. Eld. Adkins was excited and happy for the opportunity that had been made available to Eld. Hagleford. Eld. Adkins gave his blessing with one condition, that Forest Hill Church would join the Greater Buelahland Fellowship (GBF) once it had been established. Eld. Hagleford gave Mr. Goldman the news. Mr. Goldman was excited about starting the church as well as having the GBF under girding the church. The church began construction in the winter of 1986 on Baker Road, which was in the center of the Forest Hill community. Residents of the area donated money, supplies, and their services to help with the church. Everyone was excited about the church. The church was finished and opened on 7/10/1987. The first service was held on 7/12/1987. Eld. Hagleford was installed as pastor on 8/2/9187. The church joined the GBF in 1987. The church has flourished in the community, bringing new souls to Christ, as well as welcoming new families to the community. Eld. and Evg. Hagleford have a heart for souls. The church hosts regular block parties, holiday celebrations, professional development and various events for the community. With each event, new souls come to Christ. Forest Hill Church stands as a beckon for the community.
